If I draft a guy that's a 55 at age 22 and he's only a 60 at age 25, there's not a whole lot of chance that he will ever just kick it into high gear and start developing super quickly. Doubtful, so he would have a low overall. Could Cam Newton become an excellent baseball player if he put in the time to learn his skill? Probably, so he would be a high potential player. Take a freak athlete, let's say Cam Newton. I know that because potential often leads to overall, people often think of them together but that shouldn't be how you look at it. You have to start thinking of overall and potential as two totally separate things. This is a decency concern, some people do not deserve to be put on blast because you had a great game.
